Utah Division of Wildlife Resources

Great Salt Lake itself has no fish-bearing habitat -- the hypersaline open water supports only brine shrimp and brine flies, not fish, and Utah DWR does not stock or manage a sport fishery here. A Utah fishing license is still required to fish the adjacent freshwater river-mouth deltas/wetlands (Bear River, Weber River, and Jordan River outlets) under statewide rules, but the open lake proper has no fishery to regulate.
