About Smith Mountain Lake
Smith Mountain Lake is a 20,600-acre reservoir in Virginia, completed in 1963, managed by Appalachian Power. Live water-level readings are scraped from AEP Hydro on a regular schedule. The main public launch is Smith Mountain Lake State Park Boat Ramp at 1235 State Park Rd, Huddleston VA 24104. Active sailing clubs include Virginia Inland Sailing Association (VISA), Blackwater Yacht Racing Association (BYRA), and Smith Mountain Lake Sailing School & Charters.
